Get to know Asfalis Consulting

Asfalis develops resilient DNAs by focusing on our customer’s reputation, profitability, and their ability to operate. We are taking a fresh look at risk in the 21st century and reshaping the view of business continuity and crisis management.

As a business owner, what resource organizations have helped you along the way, and how?
The National Black MBA Association was the first professional development organization I joined when I relocated to Charlotte and I have received my return on investment consistently. The access to information, resources, and relationships gained through my involvement have greatly benefited me as a leader and the Asfalis team.

What made you want to start your own business, and why did you choose crisis management?
The passion for the business came nine years ago after I experienced a personal crisis of being in a tornado with wind speeds exceeding 130 mph. As the first female in the state of GA to graduate with a degree in Homeland Security and Emergency Management, I wanted to utilize my educational background in addition to my work experience to help solve complex problems.

My government and corporate experience showed me the business side of my subject after, and I wanted the opportunity to be in control of my own creativity.

What are the top three types of disasters or crisis’ that all businesses should have a plan for?
A crisis is different for every company. I encourage all businesses to identify the top 3 to 5 risks that can impact their reputation, profitability, and their ability to operate. Once those risks are identified, find opportunities to mitigate the risks or innovate your way out of the risk.

What habits do you have that contribute to being a successful business owner?
What makes me a successful business owner is the fact that I’m coachable, comfortable being uncomfortable, and I have passion fueling my purpose.
