Today’s featured #31daysofbiz entrepreneur is a special one: Phyllis Booze of MHD Consulting.
MHD Consulting, LLC provides health and wellness education, as well as group and individual coaching.
When Phyllis approached the Women’s Business Center of Charlotte in 2016 for help, she didn’t have a business plan and wasn’t sure where to begin. Determined to learn, however, she quickly became engaged, enrolling in almost all of the learning sessions offered by the WBC. After excelling in all of these sessions, she was able to devise her own Board of Directors, implement contract agreements and determine a fee scale for her business, and as a result, has increased her revenue greatly.
In addition to never giving up, Phyllis is always giving back. Using proceeds from the CPR training she offers, she has also formed a nonprofit organization to help single moms raise their children.
In the words of the Women’s Business Center of Charlotte: “She is one of the most hardworking people we have met in a long time.”

CBRbiz.com: Describe your morning routine.
Phyllis Booze: My morning routine begins around 3:00 am. In addition to launching my business, I am still currently working fulltime for the hospital as a medical coder. I am very fortunate to work from home. I begin mornings very quietly and reflectively. I spend time in devotions and prayer. As I log into work, I continue to listen to the Word of God and other inspirational things as I work. I typically will log off work around 12:30.
At this point, I am now free to work on and in my business. I schedule CPR Classes, meetings and development classes for myself in the afternoons. I am tremendously blessed because, with a flexible schedule and a growing business, I am afforded the opportunity to spend time with my grandson by supporting his many activities in school. These activities will lead me into the evening.
Phyllis Booze: I can’t live without my relationship with Jesus Christ. I can’t live without knowing, accepting and acting upon my passion and gifts. I cant live without educating, empowering and encouraging others.
CBRbiz.com: Tell us something that others wouldn’t know about you.
Phyllis Booze: As an instructor, many have commented how much they enjoy my classes and how energized, engaging, outgoing and personable I am. What many do not realize is I have suffered with extreme shyness and social anxiety for many years. At times it can be paralyzing. However, once I step inside of the classroom, all fear and anxiety are gone.
