#31DaysofBiz, Day 3: AerialCLT, Our First Ambassador!

Thank you to everyone who attended our Kick-Off to Small Business Month networking event last night. It was an inspiring event, and we don’t know about you, but we’re even more excited to see what the rest of May has in store for us!

If you missed the event, you also missed a major and exciting announcement from the CBRbiz.com team: the announcement of our first-ever CBR Ambassador, AerialCLT!

Offering aerialist classes in things like silks and lyra, AerialCLT is an aerial yoga studio that has now grown into two locations, one in Uptown and one in South Charlotte. To learn more about AerialCLT and Founder, Amy Tynan, keep reading! And congratulations to our first-ever CBR Ambassador!

CBRbiz.com: What are three things you can’t live without?

Amy Tynan Chirico: The three things I cannot live without:

1. My team – Seriously, the AerialCLT team is the real deal.
2. Teaching – Running a business is hard work and often isolating, as I work from home most of the time. If it weren’t for my students, I would have a much harder time staying grounded and remembering what all the emails were for.
3. Training – With so much computer work in my day to day, it is imperative that I have training time. It resets my brain and helps me refocus on my goals and values.

CBRbiz.com: Describe your morning routine.
Amy Tynan Chirico: My life is not glamorous or interesting…I drink coffee while reading Charlotte Agenda or Charlotte Five, often still in bed. I have a quick breakfast usually consisting of hot oats or the Nourish Entree of the week (not normal breakfast food…), then I settle in with my computer and check in for the day. Where the day goes from there is often a surprise that I find waiting for me in my inbox!
CBRbiz.com: What do you enjoy most about what you do?
Amy Tynan Chirico: I really, really love teaching. As riveting as emails, marketing and social media can be, it is not as fulfilling as teaching. I have a nice balance of both worlds, though. If all I did was teach, I would for sure burn out. If all I did was backend business work, I would be out of my mind and not find purpose in my existence.

CBRbiz.com: How has CBRbiz.com and its resources helped AerialCLT:
Amy Tynan Chirico: There is such a long laundry list of stuff to know when starting a business. It’s overwhelming, scary and potentially full of penalties that usually new businesses can’t afford. Having this information all in one spot on CharlotteBusinessResources.com has been tremendously helpful to us. Most government websites are difficult to navigate and leave you with more questions than answers. CBR is well-organized and informative, a breathe of fresh air!

CBRbiz.com: How does AerialCLT embody the values of what it means to be a small business in Charlotte?
Amy Tynan Chirico: Community is our number one word. We work to support our students inside and outside the studio. Sometimes that means giving you a big old hug when you come in for class because we can tell you’ve had a hard day, and other times that means planning a studio wide field trip to a performance one of our students is involved in to show our love. We want to know your name, not just your face. We genuinely want to know your hobbies and what you do for a living; we are not just being polite in asking. We wouldn’t be in this business if we were not interested in investing in others.
They say Charlotte is the biggest small town you’ll ever visit. People in small towns support each other and take good care of each other. Why would we do anything less?
