Get to know Jaunt Media

Jaunt Media powers Jaunt Charlotte by reaching out to local and national companies to wrap their brand or service on our carts. This allows us to provide free rides within a 2-mile radius of Center City Charlotte.

As a business owner, what resource organizations have helped you along the way, and how?

Packard Place gave us our first contract and has been by our side from day one.

The City’s Economic Development Department has been amazing. They have guided me in the right direction and helped me build a solid platform. Holly Eskridge, Kevin Dick. and Robert Phocas, to be exact.

Carolina Small Business gave Jaunt the first round of funding this year which has allowed us to grow. They believed in the vision when the bigger banks didn’t.

How did Jaunt get started? Is Jaunt only in the Charlotte area?
I originally saw a similar concept in Tokyo Japan 5 years ago when I was playing professional basketball abroad. However, they did not have advertising on the carts. I thought it was a cool idea and being from Charlotte, I knew they didn’t have this. Right now, Jaunt is only in the Charlotte area but we look forward to going to different cities in the future.

How does the business model work?
Just flag down our electric street legal carts and get your free ride anywhere within a 2-mile radius of Center City Charlotte. We charge local and national companies a fee to wrap their product or service on our carts so that the ride is free (but tipping the driver is encouraged).

It’s a win-win for the rider and the advertiser. The rider gets a free ride, and the advertiser gets a mobile billboard that can reach heavily populated areas a lot more efficiently.

What’s the best business advice you’ve ever received, and who did it come from?
I wouldn’t say its business advice, but it’s something that motivates me every day to get up and work. My Dad always told me don’t be afraid to live outside of the box and create my own wave; R.I.P Dad.
