Get to Know: Your Custom Catering & Events
Catering shouldn’t just mean purchased food, chairs or linen. Instead, it should be the word that comes to mind when you think of a once-in-a-lifetime experience. At Your Custom Catering & Events, our excellent staff employs a boutique-style approach and an unwavering commitment to excellence in order to create that unique experience for you – every time. As our client, we will treat you with the individualized, focused attention that you deserve, starting with your very first phone call to our company. We are redefining food production!
As a business owner, what resource organizations have helped you along the way, and how?
The Charlotte LGBT Chamber of Commerce, Charlotte Chamber, Charlotte Black Chamber, and Charlotte Business Resources. The City of Charlotte helped Your Custom Catering & Events become a Minority Business Enterprise as well. Lastly, the amazing staff at Johnson & Wales University.
What has been the biggest lesson learned during your entrepreneurial journey, and how have you used that to grow your business?
Learning that I cannot do everything, and I must rely on my team and those who support me to assist and also reign me in. As a small business owner, it is imperative that you utilize the talents of those around you to build a better brand and also not to burn out.
What’s the most challenging part of running a catering business?
Meeting the needs of each client and understanding their individuality and taste. We ensure that we provide services tailored to their vision rather than a cookie-cutter version of the event.
What moment are you most proud of throughout the years of developing Your Custom Catering & Events?
We work very hard to create an experience that sets us apart from others. I am most proud of being recognized by my alma mater, Johnson & Wales University, for my experience, business, and talent. They have invited me back to speak to young entrepreneurs about how I was able to make my dream come true and what steps I took to get there through education, funding, marketing, and operations.
What are your favorite events to be a part of?
Philanthropic events that benefit great organizations are always a favorite. Most notably, this will be our sixth year serving the guests in the VIP Experience at Charlotte Pride.
