“Dick O’Brien Award” Presented to Kathy Pearce of Davidson

Charlotte SCORE announced “Dick O'Brien Award” would be presented to Kathy “Katharine” Pearce of Davidson, NC for her outstanding volunteer services

Last week, Charlotte SCORE announced that this year’s “Dick O’Brien Award” would be presented to Kathy “Katharine” Pearce of Davidson, NC. Pearce joined SCORE in 2011, served as President from 2014 – 2016, and is being recognized for her outstanding volunteer services.

For those unfamiliar with the award, the “Dick O’Brien Award” is SCORE’s top award and has been presented annually since 2005 to recognize members for their volunteer service. Its namesake, Dick O’Brien, was a former Chapter Chair of SCORE; O’Brien passed away in 2005 and is still remembered for his exemplary efforts to help entrepreneurs, small businesses and non-profits.

Pearce has been a member of Charlotte SCORE since 2010, and before being named President of Charlotte SCORE, she played an active role in the organization. In addition to her involvement in various committees, she also taught courses (like Simple Steps for Starting Your Business) and served as the Human Resources VP and Executive VP.

Prior to SCORE Charlotte, Pearce earned a BA degree from Wellesley College, as well as an MBA from Harvard Business School. She worked for 25 years with XEROX Corporation, where she served in various senior financial management positions, and spent six years as executive director of Cameron Community Industries. She also served in Davidson, NC on the board of PiES and NCMedAssist and was a volunteer at the Farmer’s Market.

Currently, Pearce volunteers in Davidson with the Free Clinic of Our Town.

Congratulations to Kathy Pearce on being recognized for the prestigious “Dick O’Brien Award”!
