“Creating A One-Page Business Plan” Workshop, Co-Sponsored by SCORE and Carolinas Asian-American Chamber of Commerce
In collaboration with SCORE Charlotte, the Carolinas Asian-American Chamber of Commerce presents the second workshop of the Smarter Business Series, “Creating A One-Page Business Plan” with Gary Byrd and Jim Weiland.
This Workshop focuses on vetting your business idea through the Business Model Canvas. This model uses nine key segments of what is needed to start your business. They are Value Propositions, Customer Segments, Channels, Customer Relationships, Revenue Streams, Key Resources, Key Partners, Key Activities and Cost Structure.
What You’ll Learn
In this Workshop, you’ll learn how to frame and answer key questions about a business model and its execution.
By using the Business Model Canvas, you will receive the structure of a business plan to develop a clear path on how to grow your idea into something bigger. Be ready to focus, strategize, and develop your business idea in this informational session.
This Workshop is free and is perfect for those who:
- Have a business idea and want to visually conceptualize it to validate the business potential.
- Need a one-page business plan to present to key stakeholders.

About the Speakers:
Gary Byrd has had a variety of jobs in his working life and he believes that he has learned much from all of them. He has started and grown two successful small businesses. He also has more that twenty-five years of experience in creating and guiding marketing efforts in the high-tech sector for two of the largest corporations in the world. In addition, he has served as an Adjunct Professor of small business, teaching his students how to grow their ideas into successful companies. He is a Certified SCORE Mentor. As part of the SCORE Charlotte Chapter, he has served as the Vice President of Client Services, and continues to give In-Business Workshops for the small business community.
During his 43-year career with IBM, Jim Weiland logged over three million air miles worldwide in his role as manager, mentor, coach, consultant and project executive. His expertise ranges from strategic planning to finance operations, supply chain and contract fulfilment to sales and sales operations. He later started his own company, specializing in business operations, financial organization structure and change management. He is a Certified SCORE Mentor, an immediate Past President of SCORE, Charlotte Chapter, as well as SCORE’s Assistant District Director for North Carolina. He also teaches In-Business Workshops for the small business community.
SCORE is a nonprofit national organization that provides free mentoring and workshops to the small business community. SCORE Charlotte has over 80 Certified SCORE Mentors, representing a diversity of expertise.
